History of BWC
The story of Business Women Scotland (BWS) is one of resilience and empowerment, beginning in 2011 amid the turbulence of the financial crisis. Lynne Kennedy MBE, the visionary founder, identified a significant void in support for women in business during this challenging period.
Recognising the obstacles many women faced in realising their entrepreneurial aspirations due to a lack of guidance and networking opportunities, Lynne took decisive action. She launched Business Women Scotland magazine, a beacon of advice, information, and inspiration for aspiring female entrepreneurs.
The magazine swiftly gained momentum, propelling Lynne to organise live business events. These gatherings provided a vital platform for women to connect with experts, engage in meaningful discussions, bolster confidence, and explore financing avenues. This marked the genesis of a dynamic community of businesswomen across Scotland.
Responding to the demand for support, BWS expanded its portfolio. It introduced additional events and inaugurated prestigious awards ceremonies to celebrate the accomplishments of women in business.
With each passing year, BWS burgeoned into Scotland’s fastest-growing network of businesswomen. Lynne Kennedy’s unwavering commitment to championing women in business earned her notable accolades, including an MBE in 2019.
BWS embarked on a new chapter with the inception of Business Women Connections (BWC) franchise. This initiative seeks to empower women to helm their enterprises while the vision is to establish a BWC business hub in every city across the UK.
BWS continues to embody the spirit of female empowerment and entrepreneurial excellence, inspiring countless women to pursue their business dreams and carve their paths to success.
